As Pandemic Eases, Let’s Make Kitsap Welcoming

Welcoming Visitors Back to Kitsap!

Spring is coming and along with crocuses and daffodils, visitors are coming back to Kitsap!

Local businesses are beginning to see an increase in the number of visitors in their shops and restaurants. We know that with Spring and better weather on the horizon, people will be wanting to venture out more and our local businesses are ready to welcome them back!

Kitsap Tourism and Hospitality

Our tourism and hospitality industries have suffered more than most as a result of the pandemic and the subsequent restrictions to business and travel.  The travel restrictions have also built up a desire for travel that, as restrictions are lifted, should increase local tourism.

Local Small Businesses

In past years, local small businesses would be gearing up right now for their big season over the Spring, Summer and early Fall. The reality is that many of our local hospitality businesses depend on the increased business during these months. Despite the financial support of the federal, state and local government agencies as well as the generous support from the Kitsap community, we will continue to see businesses close the longer they face the restrictions currently in place.

Just as those of us who live here get out and about more in nice weather to explore the area, we also may be planning our own day- and longer trips for the Spring and Summer. And we who live in Kitsap know how beautiful it is here.  We shouldn’t be surprised if that beauty attracts others, if only for a short time.

While we may not see as many visitors to Kitsap as we have in the past, we want to welcome them with a commitment to the health and safety of our community. All local shops and restaurants have adopted Washington State’s Healthy Washington guidelines and will continue to institute policies as advised.

Our local businesses have done their part. Now let’s do ours and help support them by welcoming visitors back to Kitsap!
